BGE Announces Senior Leadership Appointments

BGE has announced a senior leadership promotion and three new appointments to the company’s executive leadership team. They include David Vahos, formerly BGE’s chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer, who has been promoted to senior vice president, CFO and treasurer; in addition, Derrick Dickens has been named vice president of technical services; Andrew Holmes vice president and controller; and Michael Menendez vice president of information technology.

Crosby Adds Thomas, Ostrowski

Crosby Marketing Communications, of Annapolis, has added Kate Thomas as senior digital designer and Sabrina Ostrowski as director of contracting and financial management. Before joining Crosby, Thomas was a designer for the international development organization ACDI/VOCA; Ostrowski has held senior positions at BearingPoint, Deloitte Consulting and The MIL Corp.

CarneyKelehan Attorneys Among Arundel’s Leaders

Tyson Bennett and Darren Burns, partners with Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett & Scherr, of Columbia, were named among 2016’s Leading Lawyers in Anne Arundel County by What’s Up? Magazine. They practice in the firm’s Annapolis office and have experience in education law.

BGE Announces Two Appointments

Alexander Núñez, formerly BGE’s vice president of governmental and external affairs, has been named senior vice president of regulatory and external affairs and will oversee BGE’s external outreach functions; and Valencia McClure was named vice president of governmental and external affairs, succeeding Núñez. McClure will represent BGE before the executive and legislative branches of Maryland’s government.

U.S. Chamber’s Institute Awards Shamblen

Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, has announced that Marnea Shamblen, administrative assistant of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded a National Institute Scholarship. Recipients are recognized for their involvement in professional organizations, community service and professional background.

Oravec Named VP at HCGH

Howard County General Hospital (HCGH) has announced the appointment of Jon Oravec as vice president of human resources. He will be responsible for supporting the hospital’s ongoing mission of attracting and retaining professional talent.

Quizon Joins SCE

Marie Quizon has been hired as DAS (distributed antenna system) project manager for Columbia-based SCE, an end-to-end provider of professional services and turnkey wireless project management for the utility industry. She will be responsible for overseeing all DAS projects, including review of all RFPs, services and projects, from design to implementation.

Woo Appointed to MEDCO Board

Revere Bank Senior Vice President Rick Woo was appointed to the Maryland Economic Development Corp. (MEDCO) Board of Directors by Gov. Larry Hogan. Woo was confirmed by the Maryland Senate and sworn in by the county clerk.

AACC’s Farrell Joins NCMPR Board

Laurie Farrell, assistant director of public relations at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), has joined the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) Board of Directors as District 1 director. Farrell has worked at AACC since 2010.

Custodio Joines Koffel

Koffel Associates, of Columbia, has hired Kenneth Custodio as a fire protection

technician. Since 1994, Custodio served as a mechanical designer, mechanical engineer and senior mechanical project engineer with various Maryland firms.

Williams Attends Chairman’s Retreat

Gary Williams, president and founder of Williams Asset Management, of Columbia, recently gathered with a group of leading financial advisers who were invited to participate in Commonwealth Financial Network’s Chairman’s Retreat, in Miami. The event, Commonwealth’s highest level of recognition, is held for just more than 3% of the broker/dealer’s adviser network.

Dean Awarded Carrier’s Highest Honor

Ames Promoted at Greenberg Gibbons

Alicyn Ames has been promoted to marketing and communications manager after earning the certified marketing director designation from the International Council of Shopping Centers. She oversees advertising, promotions and other programs for several of Greenberg Gibbons’ properties, including Annapolis Towne Centre, Towne Centre at Laurel and Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.

Columbia-Based WKD Karate for Girls Invited to World Games

Students from the WKD Karate 4 Girls, a female-only martial arts academy in Columbia, under the instruction of Master Monique Washington-Jones and that includes Josie Thompson of Ellicott City, will represent the United States at the WOMAA World Martial Games XVI, which will be held in Essenbach, Germany, from July 22–24.

Fazzolari Joins S&N as Zoning Manager

Carrie Lynn Fazzolari has been hired as the zoning manager for S&N Communications, of Columbia, and will be responsible for all zoning regulations, land use reviews, public hearings, zoning and code reviews by S&N and the company’s subsidiary partners: SCE, Tower16 and Stake Center Locating. She has more than 17 years of diversified experience in real estate, telecommunications and business operations.

Children’s Guild’s Baldwin Receives Management Award

Steve Baldwin, executive vice president and CFO of The Children’s Guild, received a 2016 Executive Management Award from SmartCEO magazine. He restructured the Guild’s staffing model and created reductions in indirect support services to improve cash flow and allow the organization to expand by opening charter schools.

Bay Bank Names Warren as Baltimore Market President

AACC Professor Named to National Council

Jennifer Lara, professor of education at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), is one of 10 people nationwide named to the American Association of Community Colleges’ new Faculty Advisory Council. Lara joined AACC in 2000, teaching classroom strategy courses for the Teacher Education and Child Care Institute.

Ehrenreich Joins Chesapeake Conservancy
