Bay Bank Adds VP, EVPs

Columbia- based Bay Bank has hired Matthew Rickeman as vice president and commercial banking relationship manager. Rickeman comes to the institution with more than a decade of experience in banking, having held leadership positions at The Columbia Bank, Carroll Community Bank, Maryland Financial Bank and K Bank.

Bay Bank has also promoted Deanna Lintz to executive vice president and chief banking officer, and Josie Porterfield to executive vice president and chief operations officer. Lintz, a 25-year veteran of the banking industry, joined Bay Bank in 2007 after holding leadership positions at Bank of America, Provident Bank and M&T Bank; Porterfield joined Bay Bank in 2010, with prior leadership roles at Provident Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank of Maryland and Loyola Federal Savings & Loan Association.

HCAC Adds Trio to Board

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) has welcomed Ellen Flynn Giles, David Phillips and Kenneth Skrzesz to its board of directors. Flynn Giles is employed by Howard County Public School System Board of Education; Phillips is the dean of Visual, Performing & Media Arts at Montgomery College; and Skrzesz works for the Maryland State Department of Education, Coordinator of Fine Arts.

Bozzuto Promotes Two to Top

The Bozzuto Group, of Greenbelt, has promoted Julie Smith to chief administrative officer of The Bozzuto Group, and Stephanie Williams to president of Bozzuto Management Co., effective Jan. 1, 2016. Smith has been with the firm since 1989, and has served as the president of Bozzuto Management Co. since 1994; Williams, a 10-year veteran of the firm and former developer with Bozzuto, is currently senior vice president of advisory services and business development and oversees a pipeline of more than 15,000 units in approximately 60 developments.

DelZoppo Named, Weaver Cited, by HCAR

Alicyn DelZoppo, a real estate agent with The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate, has been named president of the Howard County Association of Realtors (HCAR). DelZoppo serves on several committees for HCAR, as does Donna Weaver of Weichert Realtors-New Colony, who HCAR recently presented with its Community Service Award.

Weaver is being recognized for her leadership roles in the past year’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive, Rebuilding Together Howard County project and the Grassroots Sock Drive, as well as other HCAR projects.

Marriner Adds Ketchum

Marriner Marketing Communications has hired Matthew Ketchum as associate creative director. Ketchum’s experience spans multiple years with regional and national brands in both business-to-consumer and business-to-business environments. Most recently, he served as a senior copywriter at Peter A. Mayer in New Orleans.

HCC Honors Robey With Clark Medal

Howard Community College (HCC) and the college’s board of trustees has awarded its Sen. James Clark, Jr., Medal to Jim Robey, in recognition of his longstanding service to Howard County and HCC. Robey, who has served as chief of the Howard County Police Department, as Howard County executive and as a Maryland state senator, was honored during the college’s celebration of its 45th anniversary.

Lindsay Appointed to the DHS Council

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) President Dawn Lindsay has been appointed to the Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council. The council is a federal advisory committee composed of university presidents and academic leaders who provide advice and recommendations to the secretary and senior leadership of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Franke Replaces Hanson on WNAV’s ‘Boat Show’

After more than 14 years and 700 shows, Captain Dave Hanson of the WNAV “Boat Show” is retiring and is turning over the helm to his co-captain for the past 10 years, Rick Franke. Franke is a former general manager of the Annapolis Sailing School.

Smith Joins O’Donovan & Associates

O’Donovan & Associates, of Glenelg, has named Marsha Smith as the firm’s chief underwriting officer. She will take the helm of the underwriting teams for all of O’Donovan’s niche business insurance lines: TimberSure, ConstructSure, Daycare Defender and the Wedding Insurance Group.

Johnson Added to MakingChange Board

Kristin Johnson, events manager at the Foundation Fighting Blindness, has been elected to the board of directors of MakingChange, a Howard County nonprofit which empowers individuals and families to achieve financial stability. A 2015 Leadership Premier graduate, Johnson has spent the past five years working at the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults as special events coordinator.

Howard Music Educator Is Grammy Semifinalist

Richard McCready, director of music technology at River Hill High School, is a semifinalist for the 2016 Grammy Music Educator of the Year award. He is one of just 25 national semifinalists and is the only semifinalist representing Maryland.

Conservancy Hires Aiosa

The Chesapeake Conservancy has announced that Jenn Aiosa has joined its staff as director of programs. Aiosa was most recently acting director of operations with the Maryland Department of Planning after serving the state agency as director of policy and research.

Quotient Tabs Sherman

Columbia-based Quotient Inc. has announced that Harold Sherman recently joined the company as director of finance and accounting. Sherman will lead the company’s financial group and guide the implementation of innovations in business systems and financial infrastructure.

Arundel Assistant Director Re-Elected to ICC Board

William Bryant, assistant director of the Department of Inspection and Permits for Anne Arundel County, has been re-elected to the International Code Council (ICC) Board of Directors. Bryant currently manages the permit center of the department, and oversees the enforcement of building codes and regulations as well as inspections.

Colliers Names Williams Assistant Property Manager

Colliers International has named Tana Williams assistant property manager. She will helps Colliers’ property management team oversee office, medical office, flex and industrial space in Howard and Anne Arundel counties, including projects owned by Greenfield Partners.

Bay Bank’s Thomas Elected to ICBA Fed Delegate Board

The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) has announced that Joseph Thomas, president and CEO of Bay Bank, was elected to the ICBA Federal Delegate Board. In addition to helping shape and advocate ICBA’s national policy positions and programs, Thomas’s duties include shaping policy issues, recruiting new members and serving as a liaison between bankers in Maryland and ICBA staff.

TRRC’s Tuel Honored by Vanderbilt U.

Dr. Helen Tuel, founding director of the Therapeutic & Recreational Riding Center (TRRC), of Glenwood, was honored by Vanderbilt University on Oct. 23 with the Alumni Association Board of Director’s Alumni Public Service Award. More than 30 years ago, Tuel recognized the health benefits of riding horses for children with disabilities.
