FMA Names President-Elect, New Executive Committee Member

The Fort Meade Alliance (FMA) has named Steven Tiller, a partner with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, as president-elect; Joseph Pacileo, vice president at TASC Inc., as vice president. Tiller will begin his three-year term as president in July; Pacileo’s term is underway.

Schuh Names Louder to Head Maryland Live! Committee

Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh has named Claire Louder, president of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, to replace Mike Caruthers of Somerset Construction as head of the 15-member Local Development Council. Schuh may also make other changes based on transition committee recommendations.

Trio at Elville & Associates Named Maryland Rising Stars

Stephen Elville, principal; and Barrett King and Matthew Penater, partners at Elville & Associates, of Columbia, have been selected to the 2015 Maryland Rising Stars list. It’s Penater’s third consecutive year attaining the award. Each year, no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers for the honor.

Colliers Names Two EVPs

Colliers International has announced the promotion of Marie Gerwig to executive vice president and portfolio manager, and the naming of Marc Fischer to executive vice president for investor services. Gerwig oversees the property managers, accounting team and building engineering staff; Fischer joins the firm’s property management leadership group and will focus on expanding its portfolio of properties, among other duties.

Lee, Steve Sachs to Chair Celebration of the Arts

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) has announced that Lee and Steve Sachs will serve as honorary chairs of the 2015 Celebration of the Arts in Howard County, which will be held Saturday, March 28, at the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College. Lee Sachs serves on the Columbia Festival of the Arts Board of Trustees, while Steve Sachs is executive vice president and director of Real Estate and Hotel Practice at Willis and Board Emeritus for the organization.

Stinson Joins MakingChange Board

Ellicott City resident Mark Stinson, who serves as director of planning for Baltimore-Washington Financial Advisors, has been elected to the board of directors of MakingChange. The Howard County nonprofit develops and delivers financial education programs.

Scornaienchi Re-Elected Chair of ADAAB

Joan Webb Scornaienchi, executive director of HC DrugFree, was re-elected to a fifth term as the chair of the Howard County Alcohol & Drug Abuse Advisory Board (ADAAB). The group reviews services and the need for services relating to alcohol and drug abuse education, treatment and prevention.

O’Malley Appoints Garcia to Maryland Legal Services Corp Board

Gov. Martin O’Malley has appointed Christina Garcia of Anne Arundel County to the Maryland Legal Services Corporation’s nine-member board of directors. Garcia, energy project manager for Bithenergy Inc., was appointed for the remainder of a three-year term of departing board members.

Champion’s Coile Among Most Influential Real Estate Execs in U.S.

Jon Coile, president and CEO of Severna Park-based Champion Realty, was named one of the country’s “100 Most Influential Real Estate Executives” in the fall 2014 issue of Real Estate Executive Magazine. Coile is the only real estate executive from Maryland to make the list.

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) has chosen Vollie Melson of Annapolis to lead the AACC Foundation as its executive director. Melson brings 20 years of leadership and fundraising experience to the job and spent his last seven years working at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Kunsman Named AACC Assistant Dean of Workforce Development

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) has named Kip Kunsman the assistant dean for workforce development. He will oversee the Center for Workforce Solutions, Technology Training and the college’s noncredit cyber initiatives. Kunsman brings more than 20 years of experience in workforce development to the position.
