Neighbor Ride Welcomes New Board Members

Neighbor Ride has welcomed four new members to its board of directors. They are Lisa Bagrosky, Discovery Communications; Cynthia Penny-Ardinger, Law Offices of Baxter, Baker, Sidle, Conn & Jones; Richard Watson, Long & Foster Realtors; and Todd Zoren, Allstate Insurance. Retiring from the board will be Jan Eveland and Beth Thomas.

HCGH Welcomes New Board Members

Howard County General Hospital (HCGH) welcomed to its board of trustees Maura Rossman, M.D., William Saway, M.D. and Brian Walter. Rossman is the health officer for the Howard County Health Department, Saway is president of the Columbia Medical Practice and a multi-specialty primary care group practice, and Walter is group vice president and market president at M&T Bank.

CarneyKelehan Attorneys Re-Elected to Section Council by MSBA

Kevin Kelehan and Darren Burns, partners with Columbia-based law firm Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett & Scherr, were re-elected to the Section Council of the Construction Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) for the 2016–18 term. In addition, their partner, Daniel Scherr, continues in his current term on the council.

AACC Trustees Welcome New Members

Anne Arundel Community College’s (AACC) board of trustees welcomes two new members. They are Lawrence Ulvila, Jr., and Adam J. Hertz, and they recently were appointed by Gov. Larry Hogan. Ulvila also chairs the Anne Arundel Medical Center Outreach Council on Mental Illness and Alcohol/Substance Use; Hertz is the student trustee.

Vitale Retires From MUIH

Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) Board Chair Adele Wilzack has announced the retirement of President and CEO Frank Vitale. The board appointed John Palmucci, a longtime MUIH board member, to succeed Vitale on an interim basis while a comprehensive search for a permanent chief executive takes place.

Bay Bank Tabs Rothstein

Columbia-based Bay Bank has formed a new industry group focused on serving the debt capital, treasury and advisory needs of government contracting and cybersecurity clients, and has contracted with Col. Edward Rothstein (Ret.), as a senior adviser to help launch the effort. He had a 30-year career that culminated with his last post as garrison commander of Fort Meade.

FDG Names Zuniga Partner

Annapolis-based Foundation Development Group (FDG) has announced Jessica Zuniga as its newest partner. She brings more than 15 years of experience in real estate development and specializes in affordable housing. Prior to joining FDG, Zuniga was vice president of development for Rochester, N.Y.-based Conifer Realty, where she led development efforts in the firm’s regional office in Columbia.

CA Turns to Meliker

Columbia Association (CA) has named Ron Meliker as its acting director of human resources. He will assist CA in its search for a new director for what is a pivotal role for the organization and the community.

Ahmed Named VP at HCGH

Mohammed Shafeeq Ahmed, M.D., has been named vice president of medical affairs/chief medical officer at Howard County General Hospital (HCGH). He will function as the hospital’s designated medical safety and quality officer. He most recently served as chief operating officer/chief medical officer of Baystate Health’s Eastern Region in Springfield, Mass.

BHC’s Jacobs Named to Board

Kyri Jacobs, president of Bonnie Heneson Communications (BHC), was named president of the Howard County Police Foundation board of directors. Jacobs has spent nearly 25 years as a communications, public relations and marketing professional, leading campaigns for some of BHC’s largest clients.

TranZed Names Fortune to Board

The TranZed Alliance has named Chris Fortune to its board of directors. Fortune, a financial analyst and vice president for T. Rowe Price, covers the regional and community bank stocks and serves as an investment officer for select mutual funds. He has been quoted for his expertise in financial publications including Barron’s, Businessweek and SmartMoney.

Daskaloff Transitions at CFHoCo

Debbie Daskaloff, the Community Foundation of Howard County’s (CFHoCo) development officer since 2011. She is now providing project, design and event planning services to the foundation and other local organizations under the new corporate name of Debbie Daskaloff & Associates.

Snyder Tabbed by Nonprofit

Bridges to Housing Stability has welcomed Russell Snyder as its new board president. He is the president and CEO of Volunteers of America Chesapeake, a faith-based nonprofit that provides holistic service to vulnerable populations and offers affordable housing solutions.

Lord Elected Board Chairman

Columbia-based Nexsen Pruet attorneys have elected Leighton Lord as the firm’s chairman of the board. Lord will be responsible for shaping the vision and strategy for its eight offices. Lord joined Nexsen Pruet 1994, and has previously served as chairman from 2005 through 2010.

Newburn Joins Atigro Digital Marketing

Columbia-based Atigro Digital Marketing has announced that Jessie Newburn has joined the firm as its new business development manager. Her primary role is to develop the firm’s growing portfolio of regional accounts with a focus on Drupal site maintenance, SalesForce integration, SEO and mobile app development.

Scornaienchi Elected Chair

Joan Webb Scornaienchi was elected to serve as the 2016–18 chair of the Howard County Commission for Women. She previously served as vice chair and recording secretary.

Hetherington Saluted by The Daily Record

Dr. Kate Hetherington, president of Howard Community College, has been named a 2016 Most Admired CEO by The Daily Record. She is one of 26 honorees selected for their leadership, innovation and service. A panel of business and legal professionals chose the honorees, who will receive their awards at a reception in September.
