The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) named Leadership Howard County as its 2014 Humanitarian Award recipient, presenting the award at its annual Holland Awards dinner in October. The Holland Humanitarian Award is presented to an individual or organization that demonstrates extraordinary commitment and dedication to service to the disadvantaged community in Howard County.

“Leadership Howard County has made such a positive difference in our community,” said Bita Dayhoff, CAC president. “By using its diverse and enthusiastic membership, Leadership Howard County finds new ways to make Howard County a better place to live. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful program and its leader, Stacie Hunt, here in Howard County.”

“I’m very proud that this award recognizes the generosity and commitment of our members,” said Stacie Hunt. “Our program strives to help our members become engaged in meaningful ways as they learn about the diverse needs and challenges of our community. Our partnership with the Community Action Council and their programs is a significant focus of the Leadership experience, inspiring our members to become engaged and make a difference.”

In addition, the Premier Class of 2014 was honored with CAC’s annual Service Award for its commitment to support nonprofits that alleviate poverty during its class year.
