Join the Columbia Orchestra for its third annual Free Summer Pops Concert, and the first 2019 of the series free Community Concerts at the Chrysalis! The whole family will love film favorites from SupermanMagnificent Seven, and The Lion King, plus Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, patriotic songs, and the ultimate outdoor classic: The 1812 Overture! Crowd-favorite Sola Fadiran joins the Orchestra for hits from South PacificRagtime and Toy Story

The Columbia Orchestra is hailed as “a pillar of the local arts community” by The Washington Post. A community orchestra with 85-100 members, it performs Classical, Symphonic Pops, Chamber, Holiday, and Young People’s Concerts. In 2016, the Orchestra joined forces with the Columbia Jazz Band to offer jazz programming. The Orchestra also offers educational programs such as “Meet the Instruments” for pre-k students, a free concert for HCPSS 3rd graders, an annual Young Artist Competition, free open rehearsals, and pre-concert discussions. The Orchestra has experienced tremendous growth under the leadership of Music Director Jason Love and now reaches an annual audience of 14,000.

Now in its third year, the annual Columbia Orchestra FREE Summer Pops Concert is a partnership between the Orchestra, the Trust, and a variety of community organizations to present the gift of music to Howard County as part of the Columbia Festival of the Arts in June.
