This Barnes & Noble Book Signing/Meet the Author Event kicks off the U.S. Department of Health’s National Recovery Month, (www.recoverymonth.gov) with a true story that is centered around the daughter of a recovering addict, how she felt growing up & how forgiveness came.
Gavata is the local Author who wrote Get Yourself Together First which is a true story about forgiveness and restoration. It encourages addicts to get themselves “together” before trying to restore relationships, all the while still encouraging broken families that they can forgive. Through raw and honest storytelling, Gaváta uncover the lie that broken people feel – isolation and shame, or that they are the only ones going through these things. This book serves as encouragement that forgiveness can happen. If someone has suffered at the hands of an addict physically, mentally or emotionally, or if an addict is trying to figure out how to regain trust and receive forgiveness, this book is a must read. It is encouraged that professionals in the field of addiction recovery also consider reading, understanding and incorporating this view into their therapy and group sessions.
