With its airline partners offering more than 600 daily flights from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport to 80 domestic and international destinations, the facility’s impact on the regional economy continues to grow. The airport and travelers who take advantage of its offerings from across the globe create the synergies that support nearly 98,000 jobs and annually generate $6.9 billion in total business revenue.

2015 was a record year for BWI Marshall, when the airport set a new all-time passenger record. For the year, nearly 24 million passengers flew through the facility, while passenger traffic grew 6.8% for the year. Again, it was the busiest airport in the Baltimore-Washington region.

New airlines and added service to domestic and international markets has continued the strong growth into early 2016. Through February, eight-straight monthly passenger records were set at BWI Marshall. Additional record growth is expected through the spring months.

BWI Marshall is widely recognized as the “Easy Come, Easy Go” airport for the region, as it’s known to offer excellent customer service, a great location, easy access and affordable airfares. Airport management continues working to ensure that travel to and from BWI Marshall remains as accessible, convenient and cost-effective as possible; those elements of customer service and growth are the driving forces in its continued success.

To continue its success, BWI Marshall must take care of its customers while working with its business partners. The airport staff continually works to enhance its customer service while providing the opportunity for continued growth in air service. Ongoing capital improvements will add services and convenience for travelers, while growing the business and adding new opportunities for airlines. The improvements are addressing near-term needs and accommodating long-term growth as a major gateway for Maryland and the National Capital region.
