BWCC Announces Board Nominees for Fiscal 2014–15

Josie Thompson, president of Thompson Design and chair-elect to the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber (BWCC) Board of Directors, announced the slate of nominees for election to the chamber board, effective July 2013.

First three-year term: Timothy Adams, System Applications & Technology; Ellen Christian, Suddath Relocation Systems; Eric Harris, Marathon Financial; Becky Mangus, The Business Monthly; Kent Menser, Base Business Initiative; and Boyd Rutherford, Benton, Potter & Murdock.

Nominated for their first full three-year term are Ron Voigt, PNC Bank; and Tyler Wright, Howard Bank. Being re-elected for a second three-year term are Ernie Brodbeck, Neschen Americas Corp.; and Cynthia Scott, Tower Federal Credit Union.

COPT Announces Changes to Board

Columbia-based Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) announced that Jay Shidler and Clay Hamlin III will step down from their respective positions as chairman and vice chairman of the corporation’s board of trustees, effective at COPT’s upcoming annual meeting of shareholders on May 9. Both are nominated for re-election at the meeting and, if elected, will remain on the board as trustees.

Thomas Brady, who has served on the company’s board since January 2002 and is also nominated for re-election, has been appointed chairman of the board, effective on the same date.

AACC Educators Earn Top State Distance Learning Honors

Two Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) educators took top honors at the annual Maryland Distance Learning Association (MDLA) awards ceremony. Jean Runyon, dean of Virtual Campus and Learning Advancement, was named the MDLA Distance Education Administrator of the Year; and Steve Steele, professor of Sociology and Futures Studies at AACC, was named MDLA Distance Educator of the Year for higher education.

Runyon created the Academy of Excellence at AACC to initiate and implement quality matters and peer mentoring programs for online/hybrid teaching; Steele founded and directed the Center for the Study of Local Issues and the Institute for the Future.

Capitol College Names Berning, Shatzman to Board

Capitol College has appointed Susan Berning and Eliot Shatzman to its board of trustees. Berning owns World Portico, a consult­ing firm that provides planning and management services for national initiatives; since 1984, Shatzman has been advising clients on their investment, retirement income and estate planning needs.

Strategic Welcomes VP of Human Resources

StrategicHealthSolutions has announced that Linn Davidson has joined the company at its Columbia office as vice president of human resources. Davidson brings more than 25 years of executive human resources experience to the position.

MacKenzie Promotes Mullen

MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services has announced that Justin Mullen has been promoted to senior real estate advisor. Specializing in the Baltimore/Washington Corridor, Mullen completed more than $13 million in lease transactions and closed seven property sales in 2012.

AACS Upper School Names McCollum Principal

Annapolis Area Christian School (AACS), in Severn, has named Robert McCollum as the principal of its upper school. For the past five years McCollum and his wife have been serving as missionaries for El Camino Academy in Bogotá, Colombia.

Goldblatt Joins ARD&H

Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler (ARD&H) has named Lisa Goldblatt an associate in its litigation practice group. She concentrates her practice in the areas of complex civil litigation, construction litigation, commercial and corporate litigation, and family law.

President of IntelliGenesis Wins Leadership Award

Angie Lienert, president of IntelliGenesis, of Columbia, has been named winner of the 2013 Women in Technology (WIT) Leadership Award in the Corporate: Public Sector Small Business category. These awards honor female professionals who have excelled as mentors and exemplified unique vision.

Altieri Named Howard Bank Division President

Howard Bank has appointed 25-year banking veteran Robert Altieri as president of its Mortgage Division, executive vice president of Howard Bank and head of specialty lending. Altieri was most recently CEO and president of Carrollton Bancorp and its divisions.

Healthy Howard Announces New Executive Director

Healthy Howard has named Christine Hall as executive director, effective April 16. Most recently, Hall served as the acting executive director, overseeing the programmatic and administrative functions of the organization.

NAI KLNB Elects Breitenother to Principal

Chuck Breitenother has been elected to principal of NAI KLNB. He works from the firm’s Columbia offices and focuses on the sale and leasing of commercial office, and research and development space, in the Howard County and BWI Airport submarkets.

Hill to Run for Delegate

Terri Hill, M.D., has filed as a 2014 Democratic candidate for state delegate in Maryland’s Legislative District 12. She hopes to succeed Del. Liz Bobo, who is retiring in 2014.

Benson Joins Howard Bank

Laura Benson has joined Howard Bank as assistant manager at the Hickory Ridge branch in Columbia. Prior to joining Howard Bank, she was assistant branch manager in Glen Burnie for M&T Bank, where she worked for 12 years.

ARD&H’s Saltzman to Address NBI Seminar

Oren Saltzman, managing member of Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler (ARD&H), will be a featured speaker at the National Business Institute’s (NBI) “Tax Exempt Organizations From Start to Finish” seminar. It will take place May 22 at the Crowne Plaza Baltimore.

7Delta Hires Kildee

Columbia-based 7Delta recently added David Kildee as the director of strategic solutions. In his role, Kildee will lead 7Delta’s strategy for further penetration in the health care information technology marketplace.

Johns Perkins Appointed to HCC’s Board

Mamie Johns Perkins, former Howard County Public School System deputy school superintendent and longtime educator, has been appointed to Howard Community College’s (HCC) Board of Trustees by Gov. Martin O’Malley. Her six-year term runs until June 30, 2018.

CBRE Names Burdette

CBRE hired Matthew Burdette as industrial business development manager. Formerly of Costar Group in Columbia, he will plan, coordinate, oversee and enhance operational and marketing services for CBRE’s regional industrial teams in the mid-Atlantic market.

NGC Names Soloway VP

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NGC) has appointed Constance Soloway vice president of human resources for the company’s Linthicum-based Electronic Systems sector. She will be responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies, programs and initiatives.

Sourcefire Appoints Becker as CEO

Columbia-based Sourcefire has appointed John Becker as CEO. In addition, Sourcefire announced that Kevin Klausmeyer has joined its board of directors as an independent director.

Erickson Names Emmett

Erickson Living has named Christopher Emmett as regional vice president of operations. In the position, Emmett will oversee the company’s campus operations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan and Kansas.

CIC’s Winsky Elected to GCG

Neuman Names Members of Evaluation Committee, Continues Adding to Staff

Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman has appointed an evaluation committee tasked with reviewing department heads and senior staff in the executive’s office. It is led by Chief of Staff David Cordle and Art Ebersberger.

Neuman’s appointments include Karen Cook as the county’s new chief administrative officer, David Plymyer as county attorney, Julie Mussog as special assistant for community affairs and Michael Cox as acting fire chief; she has also announced that Hope Stewart, Amy Leahy and Ashley Ricker have joined the county’s Community and Constituent Services team; and named Richard Durkee as director of information technology.
