The Mockingbird Foundation, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization founded by fans of the improvisational rock band Phish, has awarded Linwood Center $4,000 for musical instruments for its Fine Arts Program for children with autism and related developmental disabilities.
Linwood Center was one of 10 awardees nationwide to win a grant from the Mockingbird Foundation, which received more than 1,300 inquiries this year requesting funds to support music education. Incorporated in 1997, Mockingbird has distributed more than $700,000 in 241 grants in 43 states. Fundraising through Phish-related projects supports the foundation and its grants program.
