Change Is in the Air
Especially at The Business Monthly. Not wanting to rest on our laurels, we are busy making changes that we think you’ll like. Not only like, but r-r-r-really like.
Starting in May, The Business Monthly will be all color. Yes, every page. As new presses are delivered to the printer, we’ll reap the benefits. So, with the May issue, we’re becoming more colorful.
As a result, there will be one other slight variation beginning in May. With the new presses and the inserting restrictions, we have to lose a couple inches. Our pages will be slightly shorter, but it barely shows, and we felt the chance to print in all color was worth it.
I believe you will, too.
Of course, the editorial content won’t be affected. We will continue to bring you reliable, accurate local news that can’t be found anywhere else, even on the Internet.
Wait a minute, there is a place you can go online … our new and improved web site. And you don’t have to wait until May for that.
www.bizmonthly.com
Starting today, April 5, our new web site goes live. In today’s high speed world, we believe the new site complements The Business Monthly in being your local business news resource.
Some of the features include a comprehensive business events calendar. For several years, the community has been looking for a home for an event calendar to avoid the overlap of major events. We are now that resource.
We often hear that our weekly and monthly calendar of events is routinely used to keep local business professionals in the loop. But now, our calendar will be even more helpful, with the ability to list more community events and look months — even years — ahead to avoid duplication of events.
And now, for a small fee, we can even list other business events and seminars in addition to the networking events we have traditionally publicized. In creating the web site, we put a lot of attention into making sure the calendar would be an important business tool for both organizations and professionals alike.
In addition, you’ll be able to see the newspaper, in its entirety, online. Yes, every page (and for you advertisers, every ad), exactly like the printed copy. So for those who like to get your news online, we have an app for that, too.
Of course, as we are just launching the new web site, there are areas that we are still developing. For example, we have a biz directory that will be continue to grow. We have a classified section that will be perfect for Help Wanted listings, for sale notices and so on. There is also a guest columnist section and we welcome your contributions (e-mail me at news@bizmonthly.com if you are interested in submitting an article). And, we will add news items when they come in.
What’s Ahead?
In the past, we have made podcasts of interviews with local business professionals available. You can expect more of that audio element, as well as some video reports.
We often are told we are “everywhere” (which is the nature of the business); but now, you won’t have to wait until the first of the month to see what’s happening. For instance, All Around Town photos of the many events we attend will be available online within the day (in some cases, within the hour).
Of course, your observations, suggestions and criticisms are welcome. It is our intent to continue to be the news resource to the business community that we have been for the past 19 years, but we’d like to be an even greater resource, and we can, with your help.
And as I like to say, we mean business!
