State Wins Financier Of The Year Award

The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) was named "Financier of the Year" at the 2003 Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards program held on June 5.

Sponsored by the Northern Virginia Tech Council and the Tech Council of Maryland, with participation from the DC Tech Council, the award is presented to a venture capitalist, investment merchant or commercial banker who has significantly contributed to the economic development of the Greater Washington region's technology community.

Criteria for the award include : responsible for attracting new capital to the Metro Region; invested in, or loaned capital to, local technology companies; has had notable success in merger and acquisition activity; or has been recognized for accomplishments in community education/leadership.
