Manekin Wins Six NAIOP-Maryland Excellence Awards




Columbia-based Manekin LLC was recognized six times at the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP)-Maryland Awards of Excellence 2010 ceremony. The company's local winners were as follows.
- Broker of the Year: Owen Rouse Jr., Manekin's senior vice president, director of capital markets (co-winner). His 29-year career in commercial real estate has covered several disciplines, including acquisition, disposition, construction, appraisal, portfolio management, loan workouts and consulting assignments.
- Volunteer Tribute: Greg Masi, a senior real estate adviser with Manekin, was honored posthumously with the inaugural Greg Masi Volunteer Award. He died in 2009 from complications arising from lung cancer.
- Best Office Single-Story Transaction: Masi also was recognized when Manekin received the Best Office Single-Story Transaction award for 7321 Parkway Drive South in Hanover. Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School leased the entire 41,000-square-foot building, which is a former DoD contractor facility.
- Best Build-to-Suit Office: Merkle headquarters at 7001 Columbia Gateway Drive in Columbia. Manekin LLC was the developer, Manekin Construction the contractor, Design Collective the architect, STUDIO B2SJ the interior design firm, GHT Limited the mechanical/electrical engineer and GLW-Gutschick, Little & Weber the civil engineer.
Manekin also won for Best Single-Story Office for 103 Bata Boulevard in Belcamp and Best Project Amenity for The Residents' Club at The Residences at Bulle Rock at 1200 Bulle Rock Parkway in Havre de Grace. Both projects are located in Harford County.
NAIOP-Maryland is the state chapter for the trade association, which serves developers, owners, investors and other professionals in the industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate sectors. Seventeen local companies in 31 categories were honored at the ceremony.
