2007 Howie Award Finalists Honored



The Howard County Arts Council honored the 2007 Howie Award winners at the 11th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County on Saturday, April 26, at The Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts in Columbia.
The Howie Awards are presented annually by the Howard County Arts Council to an outstanding artist who has contributed a high level of talent and vision to the artistic life of the community; an arts educator who has made an outstanding contribution to arts education in Howard County; and a business or community supporter of the arts.
This year's honoree for Outstanding Artist is Jason Love, an educator, conductor and cellist. He is the conductor for The Columbia Orchestra, and is the artistic director and conductor of the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra Association.
Deborah Bourke, an art teacher at Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School, is the honoree for Outstanding Art Educator. She has been an arts educator in Howard County for 30 years, opening both Rockburn and Triadelphia Ridge elementary schools.
Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) is the honoree for Outstanding Business Supporter of the Arts. COPT invests a significant amount of resources to support and stimulate essential local arts programs as well as create challenging opportunities for area artisans.
