Glassberg Joins Trammell Crow

Abby Glassberg has joined Trammell Crow Company to provide commercial real estate leasing and sales services in the I-95 Corridor markets.

She has been involved in local commercial real estate brokerage for over 10 years, first with Crystal Hill Advisors and, most recently, with Corridor Commercial Real Estate.

A Columbia resident, Glassberg has been active with Commercial Real Estate Women, The Columbia Foundation, Howard County Leadership and the National Association of Industrial and Office Professionals.

Additional new hires at Trammell Crow include Joe Callanan as head of its Investment Sales Group and Miles Harrison, Tobin Genung and Mickie Mueller who have joined the firm to create its Relocation Services Group.

Cynthia V. Brown is a new staff accountant at Katz, Abosch, Windesheim, Gershman & Freedman, P.A. She recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore.

Magellan Health Hires Messina

Daniel Messina has joined Magellan Health Services, Inc. as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Messina had been chief financial officer and head of business strategy of Aetna U.S. Healthcare.

COPT Promotes Gurley, Johnson

John H. Gurley has been named senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Corporate Office Properties Trust. He has been with COPT and its predecessor companies for more than 13 years.

Kent A. Johnson has been promoted to vice president of Development for Corporate Development Services, which provides development and construction management services to Corporate Office Properties Trust. He was formerly director of Development.

Manekin Expands Division

Manekin, LLC, has created new positions to support the expansion of its Property Management Division.

Adrienne Lee has been promoted to asset manager, responsible for more than 1.6 million square feet of industrial space in Elkridge and Jessup.

Gene Uhlman is a new property manager.

Marie Gerwig has been promoted to property manager after serving as assistant property manager.

Carol Patterson is the new administrative assistant in the Property Management Department.

Axlin Expands

Derek Watson is a new sales associate at Axlin Data Systems, Inc., Maryland’s leading Timberline Software Solution Provider.

Watson will handle the estimating and accounting segment of the business, focusing on the production homebuilder market.

High New HR Expert

The Internet consulting firm G1440 has hired Dan High as director of human resources.

High has over 20 years of experience in the human resources industry with such firms as The Ryland Group and the Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corporation. He will spearhead G1440’s national organizational and cultural development efforts.

Engelhaupt Joins Bank

W. Craig Engelhaupt is a new vice president of Business Banking with Allfirst Bank in Columbia.

He brings 16 years of relationship management experience to his new position.

County Students Win Scholarships

Nathan Tait Koterba from River Hill High School has received the first Robert J. Gaw scholarship, which he plans to use at the University of Maryland to major in engineering. The Gaw family established the scholarship, which The Columbia Foundation administers on their behalf, as a memorial to Robert Gaw who passed away in September 1999.

Laura Teresa Connors is the recipient of The Stillman Scholarship, an award established at The Columbia Foundation by an anonymous donor and open to graduating Atholton High School seniors. She will attend Salisbury State University to study business and accounting.

Manzoni Promoted

Developmental Services Group, Inc., a private, nonprofit human service organization, promoted Mary Manzoni to the director of Vocational Services.

She has over 10 years experience with DSG and will oversee all vocational activities and programs that the company offers.

Daly Receives Award

Timothy W. Daly of Columbia has been named recipient of the Muscular Dystrophy Association 2000 Personal Achievement Award for Maryland.

He founded Access Travel, a travel agency that focuses on the needs of travelers with disabilities.

Cronk BW Chamber Board

Jim Cronk, director of Planning & Economic Development for the City of Bowie, will fill the unexpired term of Charles McGee on the Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce.

Mundie Receives Aviation Award

Bruce F. Mundie, the Maryland Aviation Administration’s director of Regional Aviation Assistance, received the National Association of State Aviation Officials’ Distinguished Service Award.

Mundie is responsible for more than 140 airports in Maryland and has been recognized for his efforts to improve and preserve Maryland’s airport infrastructure.

Evans Appointed By Robey

J. Michael Evans has been named director of the Howard County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits.

A 29-year veteran of county government code enforcement, public works and general administration, He was most recently with Carroll County Government as Public Works Director.
